Didn't pick Pick a Petal...

So, a couple of months back, when I got the SU sneak peek for the Fall/Winter Collection, my mom advised me to purchase "Pick a Petal." It was cute. But the price is high...and I can't buy every set that I fancy. So I didn't get it. Last week, Mom had me order a set for her. Yesterday I cut it out and started playing with it before I had to mail it to her. Boy, is that set neat! In just a couple of hours I had several ideas.

This card layout was CASEd from SCSer ccarrole who sent me a very similar card. I changed the colors/paper papterns/embellisments. It is a 5.25 inch square card for my mom. Since it is her set, the first card should go to her!

Admittedly, this heart idea was posted on Splitcoast already. I made background paper with the other stampers and stamped out "I (heart) U always." This turned out very cute!

Then I had this idea...to make scallops out of the petals!

ADORABLE! I am pleased with myself for thinking this up...also knowing that someone else out there might have done it too...I just haven't seen it yet. Now I'm really wanting this set.

Next came the idea for a Halloween Monster card...with teeth!

Not the cutest thing...definitely needs work. Maybe the pumpkin orange base needed a canvas or linen background stamped on it. But the inside...ooh lala...

BOO! to you...And since it is a trifold card, there is plenty of space to write a note or information for a very fun fright night party! The pumpkin layer is 9.4 x 4.25. Score at 3 inches and 7.25 inches. The card then folds into a 4.25 inch square. There is an overlalp for the "BOO" panel.

Then, I stayed up extra late to get in the Wednesday Sketch Challenge card. I was hoping for a horizontal sketch so I could add my show off scallops. But Roxie posted one with a vertical stripe...Yikes! After thinking and flipflopping on color choices, I figured out a way to use my show off scallops:

My Fairy Nice set has been neglected too. The petal scallops mimic her skirt rather nicely.

All this Pick a Petal was a lot of fun...but I did package up the now slightly used stamp set and ship it off to my mother. Remember...always listen to your mother! If I had, then I would be able to post more delightful scallops and flowers and hearts. Now, I'll just have to admire those in the SCS gallery!
