Fall Treats

The Fall Holidays are soon upon us.
Be sure to gear up with sweet treat holders
embellished with the darling products from Eyelet Outlet and Brads
and a sweet sentiment from Joy's Life: Tastes Punny set.

I used a cutting file from The Cutting Cafe for this
Candy Corn Treat container.

I used Candy Corn Brads to accent the sentiment.
A bit of raffia adds texture and the feeling of fall, don't you think!

These diminutive brads are great for attaching handles with a bit of flare!
BTW, there is a Fall Parade happening on the Joy's Life blog using
It's All Fun Puns set. (Gulp...I missed the memo on that one!)

Apple Greetings

Getting ready to ship those kiddos off to school?
Why not make a little pocket for them to tuck in their new pencils.
(Or gift to a teacher...who can never have enough in her stash!)

Here I used the Apple Treat Box svg file
from The Cutting Cafe.  Cut two apples and two stems.
Just remember to "flip" the image if you are using printed paper
so that your shapes are mirror images.
That way, they line up when you line them up.

Stitch around...or use Glue Dots ©.
Sponge the edges with ink for a vintage look.
I created a tag using Gel-a-tins: Make a Wish.

Green Leaves Rumple Ribbon is the perfect color for implied apple leaves!
Be sure to use Craft Glue Dots © to adhere the ribbon and tag.
Pile in some new #2 pencils...

And, your student, or teacher, will have a smile on their face every time
they need to get out a new pencil!

Wedding Blog Hop

(Please scroll down for my Joy's Life Post!)

Welcome to the Wedding Blog Hop featuring
and
stamps from Jaded Blossom!

If you want good luck on your wedding day,
you are supposed to have something old, something new,
something borrowed and something blue!

Something old for this hop?
This Basic Grey Paper...

...but the collage feel is perfect for showing off
this gorgeous origami wedding dress I created using plain white printer paper.

Then I spiced it up a bit with Simple White Ribbon...along the empire waist line and pearls.
(Something borrowed: That would be Mama Lovebug's trick of adding ribbon to paper clothing!)
Caddy Blue is my "something blue."

Something new?  How about these Wedding Candies stamps from Jaded Blossom.
Perfect for decorating kisses...or your cards...or a box of candy:

Be sure to pick up some Removable Glue Dots ©
to adhere your circle tags to the bottom of your kisses.
They are easily removed without tearing your foil wrapper!

Here I used Rumple ribbons in three pinks to decorate

Enjoy the hop...and I hope you are the winner!

Not a card

You just have a few more days before we chose a winner (or two) for the Ink it Pink challenge.
Remember, this week we want to see Autumnal Colors:

Link up HERE.  Be sure to post the Ink it Pink badge to be eligible for a prize!

Here is a fun idea for fall treats...a pillow box. I used a cutting file (Bunny Poop) from The Cutting Cafe.  Love how you can modify and make these cutting files fit your crafty needs.  Here I used papers from The Robin's Nest:  Glittler Leaves, Halloween stripes, Glitter Orange Crackle and Distressed Honeycomb.  The sentiment comes from PbD's "Simply Everything" stamp set.

Embellish away...
It's a super sweet box, just waiting to be filled!

A Lift!

Today is the anniversary of the day that my dad proposed to my mom...All Saints' Day.
I'm the lucky gal that got two saints for parents...

And yes, they do lift me up, as needed!

Cupcake Duo

One the 2nd of October, the HYCCT challenge was all about cupcakes. Specifically...Make a cupcake holder and a card/tag.  I though, hey...two is a pair...and we all have got a pair of 'em! Right?

You can chose between the single or the double holder.

Then I used this cupcake image from Starving Artistamps to repeat the cupcake motif!

I used the very sparkly papers from The Robin's Nest:
Stickles on the faux frosting...perfection!

The Cutting Cafe

After two terms on The Cutting Cafe team, it is time for me to take a break. But, the break will most certainly only be in name. B/c these templates are so fun to embellish and decorate. I'm sure you will see them on my blog continually!

This is a fun Cracker Treat Box.
I think I will make a few of these to set next to Thanksgiving place settings.
With three sizes and several different styling options, this is going
to be a fun addition to the dinner table!

I used Pink by Design stamps to create this match tag.
"Go Green" is probably my most used set by PbD
Robin's Nest papaers for the bird and details.

You gotta LOVE that sparkle!!
The dew drops can also be found at

Bee Happy

Oh wow...amazing new hexagon files are now available at The Cutting Cafe website. I am nearly the end of my 2nd design team term using these fun-to-embellish svg files.  The site offers cutting files in various formats, as well as printable files. If you are still saving your pennies to buy a cutter, you can download pdf files and cut them out by hand...in the mean time.  I love that when you purchase a set, you get all the cutting formats.

This bee is a darling stamp from Starving Artistamps.  I love happy bees...don't you!

Meanwhile...

Literally...not figurative saying around here...
Off tot he next item!

How do you cut?

Do you cut using an electronic cutting machine?
Or do you cut paper by hand?  Either way works when you use papers from Robin's Nest!

I used the Sizzix eclips to cut out an svg file to create this Apple Treat Box (from The Cutting Cafe) for a friend who has been in  and out of the hospital.  The Glitter Letters Paper give the plaid a funky edge.
This box is a nice size for a couple of snacks!

The base of this treat box was made using Glitter Black Paws paper.
A little sparkle really make the black interesting.
Dew drops add a little detail in hidden places.

Winter Retreat dew drops along with glitter add a bit of pizzaz to the project!
The sentiment is from Apple Box Set sentiments from The Cutting Cafe.

But...if you don't have a fancy cutting machine, you can have fun with basic folds and scissors.

This box card has a belly band to keep the box closed.
(Okay, admittedly, I used another cutting file for that apple. But you could use a nestie or stamp or hand cut shape as well!) Girl and sentiment from Starving Artistamps.

Stop the presses:  After I created this project, I realized that I should have used
pretend that you see them on this project! A rule of thumb...Know your stuff!

Open and unbanded view.
I used Fleur Olive Green Paper for the outside of this box.
The inside stripes are the reverse side of the Fleur paper!
Ooh lala!

Red Flat plaid for this apple!

Additional view.
I used Dew Dew Glue to adhere the Winter Retreat Dew Drops.
What would you tuck into this pocket?
Tags, gum, a bracelet, moola?

The base is formed using a scorpal and scissors!
The Glitter Blacks Paws paper was used for the base.

Dreamy details.
I love the sparkle on the stem!

Either way....cutting machine or manual scissors...
A few cuts on Robin's Nest papers and you'll have a sweet gift set
to share with your friends!

Warming Up

I've been away from the craft table for the last 10 or so days.  Life gets busy. Vacations and birthdays and well...tending to the house.  Today I create this card using a darling new set from The Cutting Cafe: Owl Shaped Card.

I received the sunflower yellow pearls from a stamping friend.  They are a happy, sunny yellow in real life.
I need to get back into the paper cutting groove!
Be sure to check out all the fabulous printing and cutting files from The Cutting Cafe.

The stamped sentiment is Go Green from Pink by Design.

Sweet Day

Well, unfortunately, my day didn't start off sweet. But I did make this card yesterday for the weekly challenge by Our Craft Lounge. I was honored to be a guest designer last year.  It was during the fall/winter, so my OCL collection are mainly winter/christmas or fall. But, do have "Tree-rific Trees" that is bright and sunny.

I used some fun papers for my sun shaped card cutting file by The Cutting Cafe.

So..here's to wishing that the rest of the day is sweeter for me...and for you!

My kind of scrapbooking

Honestly, I'm not so big on photographing people and places...trips and events. I prefer just enjoying the moment without an appliance held in front of my face. haha.  But, here is a very fun and interact photo layout that was tons of fun to create!

The finished product closes up neatly into a box.

For the main box, use a 12 inch paper...here I used Robin's Nest: CS Mouse. Score at 4" and 8" on each side in order to create a "tic tac toe" grid.  Then, cut the fold on the right, just to the first intersection as shown above.  Then rotate the paper 4 times and cut each right side.

Decorate the inside as you wish.  My parents started a yearly 4th of July Hatch Batch Parade when I was young.  We have all carried on the tradition. Although my sister Jocelyn has made it into a neighborhood affair...with probably 100 participants!
I used Glitter Fireworks paper along with Glitter Fireworks diecutsLiberty dew dropsUSA Stickers, and glitter star clothes pins.  All are perfect for those summer holidays and traditions!

(Oops, I see that one of my dew drops  fell off....Dew Glue to the rescue!!)

Here I used Gold Glitter Journaling.  I sliced it down the center in order for the box to close up properly.

After creasing all the folds, your box will be formed as you curl up the sides.  (Thank you goes to DS for demonstrating, while I snapped a picture.)

The lid starts off as a 6 x 6 inch square.  Score each side at 7/8", cut on the right as you did to the bottom layer.  Then, crease and fold, tape.  Decorate as you wish. I used more Liberty dew drops for the edge.  I used The Cutting Cafe File: 2012 Shaped Card to create this "flap" on the lid.  But how do you like that new file: Bow Tie! Isn't it awesome!

I have also decorated the inside of the lid.

I hope you like it, Christensens!

Tic Tac Mints!

The Cutting Cafe has a couple of clever covers for Tictac Mints.  Here I have used the book cover cutting file.  I added a circle cut out so the recipient could see what treat is in store! (Sentiment from Pink by Design.)

On the cutting file, there are slits for the ribbon/bow!

Be sure to check out the company blog for this week's fun sales!

Summer Flops!

Are you a fan of flip flops, sandals, or thongs?

You're going to enjoy using The Cutting Cafe File: Flip Flop Shaped card !

Here, I elongated  the file so my finished design will fit into a long, tall envie!

Using papers and embellishments from The Robin's Nest, I created this funky flower embellie.
I love seeing how people decorate their flipflops.  To learn how to make this flower,
check out the tutorial on The Robin's Nest Blog. (Note, I cut my paper flowers down using scalloped nesties to that the scale fit my flipflop shoe card.)

I used Pink By Design set: Simply Everything. I love how you can get curved sentiments by the way you place these clear stamps onto the acyrlic block!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July!!
After a fun Hatch Family reunion last week, I'm trying to get things back on schedule.  On top of that, I am still repainting the house...by myself. haha. So...things just might be a bit topsy turvy this summer.  Here is a stellar gift set that I created last night. I think I will be giving it to the hostess of this afternoon (and into the evening) picnic and fireworks.  Every hostess needs a thank you gift, right?

The Cutting Cafe has a bunch of spectacular cutting and printable files
that are perfect for the 4th of July holiday!

I cut out 2 sizes of pinwheels. Then, using the stars from the Star Box, I used a yellow quilting pin to stick it into the new eraser. Voila! A fun embellishement...and a usable pencil.
(Just don't make any mistakes!)  The patterned paper can be found at The Robin's Nest: CS Mouse.

As there is a bag of peanuts inside this treat holder, I've used Pink by Design's: Go Green set to stamp off "I'm nuts about you" for the greeting card. Hey...and here's a sneak peek for this week's Ink It Pink PbD05 challenge:

Use PbD stamps, post the Ink It Pink badge, and link up with the company blog...you just might be a winner!!

I hope everyone has a very safe and very sparkly day!!

A whopper of a birthday surprise!

As you know, yesterday was Father's Day.
But, it was also my friend's husband's (Bryce) birthday. He was a bit bummed b/c his two big days of the year fell on the same day. So, on our way home from church, we arrived unannounced and sang (all 4 verses of) happy birthday to him!  Then, later in the evening, they surprised us by showing up on our door stop with samples of his birthday dessert….

That is a dessert! Amazing..but what else can you expect from Adrienne, the wife of a chef!
A* is raving over this desert.  Oh, the hamburger patty is a brownie.
Since I have decided to be allergic to all things sweet, I can tell you that it looks and smells amazing!   A* is raving over this desert and begging me to try it.

Recently, I created this cupcake shaped card using an SVG cutting file from The Cutting Cafe called:  Sweet Stuff.  If you have an electric cutter, you can really wow your friends with clever shapes, a great sentiment and some fun embellishments.  After I embossed the frosting layer, I painted it with stickles. (Ooh, how I love that glitter.)  Layering embelishments makes a nice touch.  Lastly, I added a sentiment from Pink by Design called Sweet Grams on hand cut banner tags.   (If you have a sweet tooth, you NEED this both of these sets  And yes,  I have several sweet teeth in my head! haha)  All I need now is a bag of whoppers.  Hmmm, I think I will send this card over to Bryce this week with the bag of candies so that his birthday celebration will be a bit longer this year.
