Saying it like it is

Thursday, E* woke up sick...head hurt/ears hurt.  After staying home from school and not getting any better, I got an appointment for him on Friday morning...and boy, was he sick. Very Sick.   The Physician's Assistant was concerned by how inflamed his ear was. And she fussed over the fact that "he eardrum my burst."  So, long story short, he did have a watery discharge a couple of times on Friday and on Saturday morning, b/c of what he was saying to me, I took him back in to the doctor's office to have that ear rechecked.

He's a funny guy.  At both visits, he was very verbal in telling the nurse and doctors what was happening to him, what he was feeling and what medicines he was taking.

But today, he also told the nurse that he felt a lot better b/c he had said a prayer.  The nurse looked at him, then looked at me.  And declared that he was her favorite patient that day!   I quickly said "Oh yes, and I told him that sometimes it takes prayer and a doctor's help to get well."  And she supported his testamony and looked up when she said that "The Big Doctor would always be the one that healed/helped him."

I'm really impressed by my boys' willingness to lay it out and say it like they see it when it comes to sharing what they know about church, God, Jesus Christ, values, etc.  They have no fears about what the recourse may be.  They are so quick to pray whenever something arises.

so am I...and it comes off so much more innocent and matter-of-factly than when we adults do it...and we end up sounding so pompous...why is that?

Our Sunday school lesson today talked about the prayers of children. Their faith is amazing!

What a wonderful Mom you are for setting the example. Children imitate what they see all the time. I hope he's feeling better.
