Happy Earth Day

First an Earth Day Story...

The first year that I was married, I taught art and music at a school for gifted children.  Most of them were mostly just gifted smart alecks and that was an unpleasant place to work.  I had committed to the year and so I was sucking it up and finishig it out. By April, I had already told the director that I was done...although she begged and I conceeded to finish the year. So one April day, I woke up, without plans for my art classes...and I realized it was Earth Day...it was gorgeous...it was going to  be very warm. The playground had a HUGE sand box in it.  Enough for the small classes to work in. So I dug out some pictures of Christo's art work (environmental artist). After talking to the class about this artist, we marched outside and "created art in the enviornment of the sand box. haha.  The director was so pleased that she came out with her trusty camera and shot pix of the activity throughout the day! haha.  It was a great day indeed!

Paper Makeup has Earth Day stamps (or earthy stamps) on sale today!
Although you will buy them today, everyday should be Earth Day!!

I recycled drink box packaging to make some neat phone messenging pads for my kids' teachers:

The recycling logo was stamped down the side of a lunch bag. The Happy Earth Day note tag was then tied on with some hemp onto the top of the bag.  I hope you all have a GREAT Earth Day...whether you celebrate it indoors or out!
