Things We Love...

What a fun two years it has been with the rubber from Paper Makeup Stamps! For today's hop, each designer invited one stamping buddy to join us in showcasing "The Things We Love!"

Where to start??  So...

I really enjoy receiving mail...packages, letters...magazines...blog candy...thoughtful treats.

Last month's release produced a delightful Makeup Kit complete with some gorgeous papers. I used these patterned papers and Bazzill papers for today's projects.  Feel free to send me mail so this mini mail box doesn't stay empty!  (Of course 2 of my kids want their own mailboxes now!!)

I also love tucking ATCs into my kids' lunches. It's been a month or so since I've done that so I need to start up again. Paper Makeup has grown so much over these last two years.  There are so many stamp lines to choose!

Others lines:  Animals, Dustin's Dinos, Moodys, and every so many Quotes and Sentiments!  There is something for everyone, isn't there.

Since, I have 3 kids...these were all done in triplicate!  What fun ideas do you have for your valentine?

My buddy is Jenn C of Jax Bean Stalks. She's really fun to chat with on the phone and we enjoy paper crafting and blogging.

(Again...why can't we live closer to each other? Do I need to post a personal want ad?

"Crafting Friend Wanted. Must be within 7 miles of me. Must be easy to chat with and generous."

All my stamping buddies are in the computer these days.)

Be sure to check out Jenn's creation (which she is keeping secret from me), along with the creations from the rest of the Paper Makeup Artists and their buddies.  We hope to see you at tonight's party at 7pm (EST) in the PMS forum.  Oh, if you want to be in the running for thsi month's prize, be sure to comment on all the blogs (list below), as well as the Paper Makeup Blog.

Guest Designer...

I was honored to be asked by Paper Works Co.to be a guest designer for today's sketch challenge.  You gotta LOVE sketch challenges.  So..here is what I came up with...

I decided to use the Valentines and Cupcake theme of the latest Party Time Tuesdays blog challenge for the theme. (Be sure to check out how Jenn has revamped the blog since taking it over last week!  I heard tell that she has some snazzy prizes lined up as well!)  To see the sketch and link up, please go to the PWCo blog.  Be sure to link up with your submission too!  I can't wait to see what you create.

Two new recipes

This week, in keeping with my new and improved resolution to make more cookie recipes, we made Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies and Double Chocolate Chip Cookies.  (Pix to follow.)

Peanutbutter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup peanut butter
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
a pinch of salt
1 cup chocolate chips

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 375ºF (175ºC).

Line a cookie sheet or two with parchment.....definitely a must!

Cream butter and sugars until creamy, then add egg and vanilla and beat until smooth.

Add Peanut butter and continue to beat until combined.

Add flour, baking powder and salt and stir to combine.

Add chips and stir again.

Drop small spoonfuls of dough onto parchment (you should get a dozen per sheet).

Bake 12 minutes or until just golden.

Remove from oven and allow to rest on the sheet 1 minute before removing with a spatula.

 Double Chocolate Chip Cookies
Makes 18 cookies (But I got 22 cookies out of it.  Better double it.  This is not enough for 7 kids and 3 adults at a Friday Night party!)

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Method

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. In large bowl, beat butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt; stir into the butter mixture until well blended. Mix in the chocolate chips. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.

3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or just until set. Cool slightly on the cookie sheets before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

February 3rd...

Yep..that's right. I can't believe it!  The district has closed the schools again today in honor of my

HALF BIRTHDAY!

(Not my cake...just a pix off the internet!)

I don't know what else it could be... The sun is shining.  My driveway is cleared! haha. (Or at least the last time I checked it was cleared!)

Mybearybest...who spoils me rotten...gifted me with TWO Kitchen Sink Stamp Sets.  I waited until the middle of the night, when i awoke, to open my package.    The Ducks and Pigs and Simple Sentiments...which have both been on my wishlist.  (AKA. I put them into the shopping cart; I take them out of the shopping card. I put them back into the shopping card; I take them back out of the shopping cart!)

Oh, I can't forget the fabby valentine's box Granny and Papa sent to us yesterday.  AN ADD ON to the MONOPOLY GAME. You should have heard the shrieks and squeals coming from these Monopoly Maniacs!  Also, A* got hand knitted legwarmers in teal. There were valentines and a sudoku book for Ken and I. A quirky valentine..which I'll have to snap a shot and show you later. And some craft supplies Again..wait until you see what this stuff does!

I have stamped a few piggies, and figured THIS out. If you keep stamping a layer over and over..and it doesn't look "right," maybe it is UPSIDE DOWN. haha. I just oculdn't get the last layer to work. After trying several different colors of ink and "stamping off" tries, it hit me. The stamp was upside down! hahaha.

While I don't have a piggy card yet..here is a PMS card that fits today's Ways To Use It Challenge over at SCS.
