Modesty and compliments

Last night, I went to the pool with my three kids.  I swam 10 laps (half my goal) and then the "late night swim" caused the pool to fill up.  Thus no swim lane. But after 10 laps, I got out and walked around the pool to cool off my legs a bit. One older grandmother came up to me and inquired if the girl that came with me was my daughter. I replied yes. And she complimented and raved about how nice it was to see her in a modest bathing suit.  She said that she probably sounded old fashioned talking about it.  But she was happy to see a girl the pool in a modest suit.

You can imagine I was so proud and happy and grateful that this woman took the time to compliment  my daughter's choice in bathing apparel. She then went on and inferred that it came to good teaching from me, her mom.  I told her that I was old fashioned too...and valued and appreciated modesty, which had been taught to me by my mother and grandmother.

I had to pay a bit of extra money to get a suit that would cover her.  And, she is the one who carefully picked both of the suits out.  She chose them wisely.  They are stylish and pretty...and yes, modest.

Thank you A*, for being so valiant and faithful!  If you value modesty, take a moment and compliment another teenager!

Awww... How sweet is that? And I'm totally with you... I don't want my girls strutting around in teeny tiny bikinis... Way to go for having such a level headed kiddo!!! :)

oh so true, Miss adelle....You cannot even pretend to imitate the world without it having a negative effect on you. You are beautiful just as you, you don't need to show off your wares to prove it. Love you! and you parents for paying the extra for the perfect suits.
