Yin and Yang

I am having a long downer moment this evening.  Thinking about ideas that I had thought of in past years...that didn't pan out for me.  But someone else seemed to make them work; and shined each time.  Even my "sew in 2010" goal seems to have not really taken off too well for me.  Yet my mom bought a serger 2 weeks ago and is now "sew happy."      So, here I sit, feeling poorly about it all.

So when I posted my last downer post, my mom suggested that I have a Yin and Yang blog.  So that the crabby/sad can be offset but the smiley/happy.

While I sat here miserable that I am not really exceptionally good at anything, my darling #1 boy came up to me and said that I make the BEST EVER cinnamon rolls.  He reminded me of his Mother's Day Poem from second grade. An Acrostic poem....and the R in "Mother" read: Rolls of cinnamon, I love best.

So, while I am not exceptionally greatl at anything spectacular, I do have a sweet son, who loves my cinnamon rolls.  Even to the point of begging me all afternoon to make them.  Since I started late, he is now begging me to stay up late so he can eat some before he goes to bed.  In the end, we'll be enjoying some fresh cinnamon rolls later tonight.

And that is my first Yin/Yang Post....  Does it leave you on a happy note?

Oooh can I have some cinnamon rolls too?! They sound delicious and for any child to say they are the best truly means something! Sometimes being good at a lot of things (which I think you are!) is better than being exceptional at only one thing...at least that is what I tell myself! It makes you a very well-rounded individual that everyone can enjoy!

It leaves me hungry for some cinnamon rolls. :) And smiling about how sweet your son is. :) You must be an exceptional mom and isn't that what matters most? I just read this comment somewhere on-line. If you want to feel rich, just count all the things money can't buy. I know you're not talking about money riches here, but you have plenty of blessings in your life to look at when you feel a sad/crabby moment coming on. How's that for a pep talk? :)

I agree, it isn't always better to think you can only do one thing well; it is better to be well rounded and know that whatever you do, you have fun doing!!
I think you are very talented and the best thing in life is when your child tells you how wonderful you are!!

Dawn, I'm 110 percent convinced that you're being far to hard on yourself. From what I've read, I think you're an exceptional mother! Many children do not have a loving mother who is involved, engaged, runs Scouts, soccer, church activities, etc...and still finds time to make them cinnamon rolls ;) While you may think this is run of the mill mommy-stuff...think of all those kids who don't have a run of the mill mommy and then you will realize that you ARE the exception!

Now...how do I bookmark this so I can take my own advice next time I'm down???
