Casing myself

This month, Paper Makeup Stamps has been celebrating its birthday all month long.  Designers have been asked to take a look at their VERY FIRST card...and update it!

Well, here's my little story.  I fell in love with the Beautiful Day Fairies as soon as I saw them and thought I'd try my hand at applying for the design team.  After submitting a couple of samples to Katie, I decided that whether or not I made the team, I had to get a couple of fairies.  I limited myself to buying just two.  Oh...but the decision between which one...and you know me.  Glad I only had to decide between 4 or 5 fairies...now there are what...50?

After a few discussions with DD as we looked through the store site, we decided on Penelope and Sprout. Although, Chelly with the Lucky Clover was one that I really wanted...esp since St. Patty's Day was just around the corner.  I figured, I could probably make Penelope look a bit Irish..haha...so I gave her auburn hair and used a green cardstock base.

Okay...she's still Asian with that origami paper...but the feel of the gold and green is still there! I used acetate and dazzling diamonds for the wings...as all fairies need glitz and sparkle!!

My updated version of the card...well, I have made it into a 3D project using the fabulous Paper Temptress papers.

To make this pouch, start off with a 6×11 inch piece of paper. Again, Grandee Felt has a great weight to it and is perfect for this project! (And it is a dark green, not black as it appears in this photo.)  Score your paper at: 3.5 inch, 3.75 inch, 8.5 inch and 8.75 inch. Fold and decorate.  I used Gold and Copper Metallic paper along with the origianl Origami paper.  Here you can see the shimmer and shine:

Here is the opened view. The inside is lined with some origami paper. Four or five envelopes are added so that you can tuck in any number of useful things. Fold the flaps backwards and tape or glue them together. These will form a sort of accordian. Tape the last one to the base cardstock.  I also added a velcro closure to keep it all nice and tidy!   I am sharing a bunch of my fairy images with a stamping friend who I recently introduced to PMS.

Incidentally, here are my first two cards that I made using Sprout.  The rest is history.

Wow, I can't believe that I have been creating with Paper Makeup Stamps for nearly a year now. It has been such fun to watch the company grow and see the new lines and meet the friendly designers.

Ooooh, love your re-make! What a great idea to use envelopes for your accordian holders. :) I've been to a stamp camp where they measure, cut, scored and taped dividers together - this would be way easier!

And of course I love your coloring, layout and designs - as always! This little gift is sure to make someone's day brighter. :)
