It's a RED PLATE Day!!

My son, C*, came home from school yesterday with news. But in the hustle and bustle of afterschool stuff, he was told to wait while I tended to someone else. And then it was forgotten.  Later that evening, I noticed what he had been holding was now laying on the table.  Bum Bumbummmmmmmmmmm!  (Insert Snood sound!)  He had the TOP SCORE in Math Olympiad this week!  Being a 4th grader in a group with 4th and 5th graders, this is a great accomplishment.  C* is so talented in math.  He is sweet and sensitive to what he hears and sees and feels.  This year in school has been rough...a really tough teacher, a mom who has high standards, the normal kid stuff that goes on with other students.  I am so pleased with the improvement with his handwriting this year.  He is so smart and kind.  I love going to stores with him  "one on one" and having "dates" with him as we sneak in french fries (once in a while).

What is a Red Plate Day?  Another tradition I had growing up was the Red Plate Day. If something special happened to you, during dinner, you got to eat off the red plate.  Years ago, my parents gifted us with one red place setting.  It is mostly used for birthdays. But once in a while, a kid comes home with news and asks for the red plate.  So today (or rather tomorrow as he is at a friend's house), C is eating off the red plate!  Bum Bumbummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Being a teacher, I know what a great honor this is for C*! Please congratulate him for me and tell him to have a great meal on his special "red plate"!

connor? your mom made you wait to tell her the news? What's up with that? But congrats big guy .... that is super. This is an honor and you shouldn't have had to wait for man nor beasts...but knowing your siblings as only a granny can, one was probably loud and gave your mom a fit.

But good for you...red plates and all. I think you need a new Bakugan for that...just because....not that I think all super awards deserve a gift...but I'm doing this to give your mom another fit
