Yoga

Since it is Monday, E, M, C and I attended the after school Yoga Class instructed by their PHYSICAL EDUCATION teacher. Of course, she is not a gym teacher. I have been corrected for a few years now. Gym is a room; physical education is the class.

And while, yes, this is a child's yoga class, I was appalled by the behavior of a group of kids today. They were not interested in yoga. Just wanted to run about. Rolling up their mats, moving their mats. Running to the drinking fountain a dozen times in 45 minutes. I'm not exaggerating either.

Interestingly enough, two of the biggest culprits live a few houses away. Sounds like the Latch Key attendant is getting a little break from some crazy latch key kids. But poor PE teacher who has offered this class for free.

This is my first yoga class and I think that the teacher is under the impression that I am not new to this. Luckily for me, it is at the elementary level and easy to go along with things. M* was so excited when this class was announced. When she found out that parents could attend, she wanted me there too. And C wanted to go. Which meant that E had to go. So, each Monday for 6 weeks or so, the 4 of us will be down dogging it with the best of the yogis at Webber Elementary.

I think I understand why yoga is such a work out. I actually was getting warm today in the room called a gym. And now, after dinner, I am exhausted and ready for bed. But a few more things to do for my very first (haha) craft show.

ohhh I love Yoga and I don't think it's for the faint of heart! So cool that it's offered that the school and for free even! What an awesome experience you will have with the kids! (If you can get over the hoodlums in the class! LOL)

I would love, LOVE to take a Yoga class. I have some delusional notion that I might actually be able to figure it out and do it with this aging body of mine. Be sure to let us know what you think about it after the 6 weeks is up.

p.s. I love the way you refer to your little ones as M,C and E.

I teach kids yoga and I don't know the age of your children or this class but there are cerainly days when it really doesn't matter what I do - the kids are just in their own head space. Which of course means I just can't grab their attention for more than a minute or two at a time. Hopefully not all weeks will be like that.
