WANTED: More Time

I don't know why I fool myself every year. School begins and I think to my self, "You're going to have more time." And well...what a joke! I get busier than ever.

I am coaching soccer again. E* scored a goal at our first game on Saturday. Go Wild Cats! Though one little girl informed me that she was a Wild Tiger. Grrrrrrr. We didn't win, but we made 3 goals. E* has surpirsed me with his soccer knowledge. My co-coach Randy quizzes the kids and E's hand is in the air and he can answer all the questions...What is a referee? What is a corner kick? What is a throw in? What is a...? He must have had a super coach last season..hehe. He is always more assertive on the field.

Like I said, we didn't win...but that just means that we have room to improve. As soon as Coach Randy and I can get the other kids on the team more assertive, we'll be all set.

I'm leading Brownies again. Though this year, I am a coleader and our troops have been combined. The other leader is pretty organized and motiviated...so I won't have to do all of it on my own. Yeah!

Ken is the den leader, though I have no idea why. So I will be the wind beneath his wings...or the nag in his ear. (A nice nag, Mom! As nice as I can be. Promise.)

I do have some stamping chores. haha. I am a guest stamper on my upline's blog. I see that Joy hasn't posted my August card. Guess I need to check on that too. I am stamping 52 large envelopes for a service project geared toward mothers/families of stillborn babies. I'm not sure how to say that gently enough. Also, I have to put together 2 booklets for 2 little girls who were recently baptized. Those in attendance were given 1/4 sheets of paper to write down their testimonies/good wishes...and I am going to bind them together.

On Splitcoaststampers, I am one of the Divine Secret Siblings Coordinatores. Believe me, that takes a lot of patience and medation! haha.

So then there is the never ending laundry and mopping of the kitchen floor...dinners to be cooked. Oh yeah and 2 birthday parties to plan...ugh.

But...on the upside...E* has 3 days of school this week and I am hoping to go see a movie tomorrow. Alone, by myself, in the middle of the day at the movie theater. If I get the nerve to do it. It sounds so lonely and boring! haha.

Well, the rain has foiled my Cub Scout plans. I took a break from rushing about trying to redo the meeting tonight. Guess I'll get back to gathering supplies and telling the kids to settle down.

Oh yeah...wonder if we are going to practice in the rain tomorrow!

EDITED to say..>I didn't even include my Church responsibilities! haha

Hi Dawn
I always get a chuckle every time I read your blog. Your life parallels mine so very much. We must try to teach each other the word "NO". I too am coaching my daughter's soccer again this year, running Nolan to his practices, I cook 1 Wed. a month for our church dinners, am a GEMS counselor on Wed. evenings (that is right after cooking), run the SUnday morning BIble study, volunteer for both my kids' classroom as head room parent (I am such a glutton for punishment) and try to work in cooking, cleaning and stamping. No wonder I'm tired all the time. I want my summer back - I think.....
Thanks for sharing your musings, it's nice to know I'm not the only crazy Mom out there - but you know...I wouldn't trade it for any 9-5 job! Take care!

Try looking in a mirror, smiling and saying pleasantly..."no I can't do that, sorry!" Don't overschedule but prioritize and remember YOU are a priority too...have fun at the movie. Aunt Lin

Yikes! I'm exhausted just reading about what you do.

yawn ... stretch ... think I'll go dip an english muffin in some hot chocolate, put my feet up and read a good book. I need to rest up. I have to walk the dog tomorrow, and set the table, and ummm... what else?

Okay, so I lie. I also have a day that's filled with activity but, NOTHING like yours! Those days are long behind me, and though I miss my kids so, so, much. I don't miss the frenzied life of being the mother of a tassle of youngins at all. It's nice having some uninterrupted "me" time. And I love having grown children!!!

going to the movies is not a lonely thing. i love doing it and since you are going to do it, I might do it today, as well. I think my day is surprisingly empty. Me and a large extra buttered popcorn is wonderful...and it is raining.

But of course I might have to settle for a small popcorn since last night during Monday Night Football you dad saw the Olive Garden's ad for the Endless Pasta Bowl and says we are going tonight! Hooray...No cooking...Now if he'd only remember to close the garage door....first time for an attached garage and a garage door opener and he can't do it. Way too funny.

You can do it though. You are a super mom!

Your life sounds very similar to mine....I need to practice saying "I'm sorry, I'm not able to help this time".....easier said than done!! I keep thinking that life will get into a groove but new things just seem to jump into the frey of it all and keep me/us running around like chickens with their heads cut off!!
