Celebrating A GREAT Neighbor...

So, just now, since #3 is not feeling great and wanted a nap instead of going to buy some valentine's goodies at the store, I started browsing my every lengthening list of blogs that I have bookmarked. I found that Melissa's Musings has posted a link to my blog. What a surprise! That's the second person to do so. It's pretty exciting since I really don't blog about stamping. Since I can't shop for DH (although I know exactly what I want to get), here is a little entry about my really GREAT neighbor and STAMPING.
R** moved in next door about 13 months ago. She and her DH have one daughter who is the same age as my youngest. They are really..the nicest neighbors I have ever had. R** has watched my kids, sat outside and chatted the summer away, emailed with me, loaned me everything crafty, helped me scheme up ideas for parties, held the pinata (from the balcony) for the Famous Pokepalooza party...the list is really too long. She is really friendly and chatty and "hang out cool." Three things that I like in a person.
I learned last year that her birthday was February 12th. All year long I tried to remember. All month long, I said, R**'s bday is coming. Remember R**'s bday. Yesterday, I got up and thought...today is the 12th...Ahhh! It's R's bday! What better gift than hand stamped items...hehe. I spent the afternoon crafting away for her. The above pictures show what I gifted her. Here's the list: a small tote with a decorated pen and micro-beaded lipgloss, post it note pad and a spiral note book, and four cards with decorated envies.
I used yesterday's TLC103 challenge to get inspired. You had to make four cards using:
1 stamp set (polka dots & paisleys)
1 sentiment set (so very)
1 color combo (blush blossom, chocolate chip, certainly celery, cool caribbean)
1 background stamp (linen)
It was a great starting point for me. As I was looking for a set to use, I knew that R** would like the graphic-ness of those 2 stamp sets. I think that the gift ensemble looks like a "set" but each card is quite different. I took the pictures with DH's new camera. Oh lala..so much better than scanning them in. Especially since my scanner bed has dried stickles on it so all my images are a little spotted.
Think about your own GREAT neighbor or friend. Make a little gift, buy a candy bar or flowers and make her day...on a regular day. Think about how surprised she'll be! (Which reminds me, my good friend R** in CA sent me a package full of ribbons and eyelets...Just Because. What a great surprise for me! So I know it works!)
