What kid doesn't like splashing in the rain!

Remember to join us as in the Paper Makeup Forums tonight at 8 CST for fun, games and PRIZES!  Here is my prize for you:

Now flutter quickly to Lisa K's blog for a funtastic creation!  (Feel free to scroll down a bit to see the Mark's Finest Paper challenge for this week!)

shabby chic and homemade

Today's Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge is asking you to design your own embellie!  I  sewed some ribbons together along with a button for this shabb chic design.  (The colors may be a bit off.  But who doens't love black and red combos!)  Be sure to link up to the Mark's Finest Papers Blog.  The Blog Team designers love to post comments!  Also, next week will be the blog hops for the August release!  Mark is on your stamping calendars!

Stamping again...

Aside from finding new light fixtures and curtain rods, the kitchen is officially finished. Well, I suppose Ken has to put away the supplies that are piled on the kitchen island.

I LOVE the pear pizazz color! I'm so pleased with myself for doing it all by myself...aside from the ceiling. (Thank you Ken.)

So, yes...pix to come. But I might as well just enveil when we get said light fixtures.  And thanks to my neighbor who just picked one up for me. We had found it online and she took the bull by the horns and purchased it. unfortunately, it was broken. Bummer. It was sooo pretty.

But...today I did get a card made for the SCS Ways to Use it challenge. I used Mark's Finest Papers stamps and cardstock.  The patterned paper is basic grey.

I sure need more stamp time!

Sneaky Peeky....Moodys!

Today is the August Moody Sneak Peek for Paper Makeup Stamps!

I really enjoyed making this card in browns and blues. Which is completely not the color style I tend to use.  The "card" part of the design is actually 4 x 4 with a flat 4.25 x 5.5 card base.  Be sure to check out the more Moody and Word Art sneak peeks on the Paper Makeup Blog.

Birthday Rehash

I had no expectations for my birthday and it was marvelous. I got up and completed my morning exercise. I painted for 3 plus hours. The only child home was off with some friends down the street.  When I got bored and frustrated and annoyed with the kitchen....I rounded him up...and we ran a couple of errands.  No, he did not buy me a pet turtle...but we went to a petstore and looked at them, priced them out and got information on them.  On our way home, we stopped for icecream cones...b/c I didn't think we'd be getting dessert today.

Several of my friends popped by and admired my Pear Pizazz Kitchen.  (Another day and it'll be done, hopefully.  Although, I am having Ken finish the top edge b/c I've done all the walls!)  Yes, and pictures will be coming.  I color matched Certainly Celery..but it looks more like Pear. Which is what I perfered anyway.

I got stamps from my friend Sherri and of course the stamps I already mentioned from Michelle.  Becky dropped by with a birthday cake. Which I needed since my kitchen is under construction.  It was so lovely...not sure that the picture does it justice.  It was tall yet small and decorated with a waterlily on top. And plenty big for the familiy.

Kim and her kids stopped by with a card and some sizzlit dies.  (Do these people think that I craft all day long? haha)  Then my neighbor surprised me with new Polish Pottery pieces for my new kitchen!  Yeah...I was thinking something new was needed for the walls!

Ken too me and E* out to Cruse & Muir for dinner.  He ordered a large Red Wings pizza...so we will be feasting on left overs! YUM. I had the Michigan Fetticini! Delicious!  Of course...we hadn't even gotten to the restaurant with DD called.  "Mom, I'm sorry I missed your birthday.  I'm home now. Can I sleep over Sam's (as in Samantha's) house again tonight and go boating again tomorrow?"   (I'm sure that was b/c of the note I left for them in case they returned before I did...signed "XO the birthday girl.")  Of course you can, DD. So both kids are spending the night there and boating, again.

After spending some time at the Lineberry's, we came home. We...as in Ken, E* and me....and sliced the cake and opened gifts and cards. Ken's mom had sent me a card last week.  Becky had also tucked in a gift card to Mike's for me in her card.  Patsy and Johnny remembered me...they are sooo good that way!  Mom and Dad sent me...edited...oops forgot I wasn't supposed to post it. Bummer.   I had just said to my neighbor Rebecca that I wanted this very thing.  And my wish was granted the same day!  Ken got me some lotion and a pretty ring.

haha...So...all in all, my birthday was super. Now...if we could just get that kitchen finished.  And I am sure that is going to be easier than dealing with a bully at church.  Oh wait...I deleted that part. And, I'm not laughing about it either.

Pix to be added in the AM.

My Birthday!

Today is my birthday.   I LOVE my birthdays!!  So, this year, my gift is letting my oldest two kids sleep over a friends' house and then go boating with them all day. (I don't think I'll be seeing them until late tonight.)  Yesterday I painted the kitchen for 13 hours (with 9 kids underfoot in the house). Which means today, I have found new muscles that I forgot I had! haha. But the color is awesome. I can't believe I left it warm white (that Ken enjoys) for so long. So today, I will be putting the second coat on it.

Biking home from my daily 2 mile walk/2 mile bike regimine, I realized that I am much more healthier than I was when I was 29. Yeah me!

I told E, the only one home, that we'd go shopping for my bday gifts today. He could take my credit card and buy what ever he wanted for me. Which might mean that I am getting a pet turtle. haha.

Another great gift this year...I completely surprised Michelle/mybearybest with a box for her "unbirthday!" haha. But of course, she generously gifted me with THIS set of cards and the matching Paper Makeup set. Which I had really wanted but wouldn't buy for myself.  Thanks a bunch, Michelle, for the surpises!

Well, it's just past 10 am...I'm still in work out wear after showing off my kitchen to my neighbor and interior decorator friend who thinks it is awesome too!  (We might be heading for Ikea for fixtures on Thursday.)  My #3 is down the street with those boys who spent the day here.

So, I have at least 12 more hours to celebrate me and everyone else I love!  Happy Birthday to me...and Happy UnBirthday to YOU!

Overheard

At bedtime:

Dad:  "You better start saving up your money for cavities if you aren't going to brush your teeth!"

Son:  "No, I'm saving my money for..."  (And I couldn't hear the list. haha)
