Occasional cards...

Sometimes you need a card...just because...

And sometimes you need one for a specific purpose:

**All images and sentiments are Paper Makeup Stamps.

It's Friday!!

Which means...a Friday Freebie for you from Paper Makeup Stamps!  This week Katie has cooked up a fall quote.

Since this is a digi, you can manipulate the size.  So I made the quote a little smaller for my card.  Then, I cropped the leaves and changed up the sizes.  After I printed them and cut them out, presto magic...I had templates for paper piercing!!   Super easy. I outlined the edges to give it more definition. Red and Yellow is a fun color combo that I really like. But since I was going for a Season Fall Theme, I looked to my cranberry and mustard.  Haha..every time I think of this color combo I think of one of my college suitemates who was in a sorority...Chi Omega...whose colors were...Cardinal and Straw!  Boy would  the rest of us roomies get a kick out that whenever we heard it. Maybe b/c to us, it was still red and yellow.

Yesterday, the third kid woke up, throwing up...the stomach flu has gone through all three kids.  I can't complain as it was the first time in my 10 years of motherhood. But I sure hope there isn't a reoccurance for another 10 years!  I need to make one more note book b/c Michelle (and probably a few others) are looking to see what is going to be tucked into the (best for) last's lunch box next week!

Getting Out of MY CRAFT Box

While I enjoy challenges, being stretched is pretty hard at times.  Today's WT237 challenge was to "Get out of the box."  But not "the box," but YOUR box.  Try a new style. So, Vintage is pretty much not me. I can do simple or lots of layer.  Cute, modern...but I do not do VINTAGE or COLLAGE.  The only other "vintage" card I have made this year had a dollie on it too.  But I think this one is much more successful.  The sentiment is by Paper Makeup which has tons of inspirational quotes to choose from.

This card was made yesterday after I had finally done all my chores!  It is not a traditional card size.  I'm not even sure of the exact dimensions but it does fit in a 3 5/8 x 6 1/2 inch envie.  I think it more closely fits the example for the CAS33 challenge.

Amazingly enough, there aren't many color challenges.  And I'm pretty picky about color combos. But I LOVED this one.  I suppose b/c it had FIVE colors and I used all 5.  The bird is rock n rolled in 2 colors.

Making things Equal

Since I had made a mini notebook for DD, I need to make one for each of my boys. I let R* pick the stamp b/c he said all my stamps are too girlie. haha.  I was going for a really cool sport quote that Paper Makeup sells.  He wanted the soccer monster.  So to comprimse, I cropped the quote down to "100%" when I had wanted to crop the monster down to just the soccer balls! haha.

Then, since I had  smashed my right middle finger in the outside door on the way to the bus stop yesterday afternoon, I figured I needed to do some stamp therapy to keep it limber after hours of ice.  Here is a funky fun card for my stash. Instead of white, I used yellow on the layers.  Also, as you might notice, I LOVE using Vellum as a mat when you need just a little bit more to a card. It's mostly clear but still gives the card a little "something."  My favorite vellum is by Paper Temptress. It is so thick. I love, love, love it!!

Cards for Friends

I really didn't like today's SCS Color challenge. But with the addition of bashful blue and the right DP, I found that it wasn't that bad!  (Challenges:  CC237, 365 Cards #206My Creative Clutter sketch)

I love this simple layout and figured PMS' bird set would be a great set to use it with!  (Challenges:  Clean and Simple #60Lili of the Valley #36)

Just Boo-cause!

When you go trick or treating, you get all your candy in one night.  So, in honor of the next big holiday, I'm spreading some doodle love and dumping these onto my blog all at once. Halloween style!

I'm so not a cat person, but I could really get into the new Starving Artistamp Cats!  I stamped the cat onto bright green and then cut out the eyes.  Then the eyes were glued to the full cat figure on caramel CS.  Very eery!!  (Challenges:  CAS33)

This layout was on a challenge blog and I couldn't resist using it for a card.  I think the skulls make a nice border, how about you?   (Challenges: Clean and Simple #60Lily of the Valley #36 )

Earlie this year, when SA came out with the baby set, I made a card using 3 babies. that represented my own three babies.  Well, as I was stamping out these creatures, I realized that they were my very own 3 beasties.  DD is so much like a cat in her attitude that it isn't even funny.  #3 is the impish little brother who is usually ready to tease an older sibling.  And the one in the middle, he's my bravest and on track guy...always standing up for what is right...just like the cowboys of old.  And yes, candy is always number one in their book too!   (Challenges:  Haunted House Designs #006)

I just love making these creatures "in love." haha.  So the sentiment just HAD to be used in a luvey way...with the werewolf clutching a heart. (The heart is from a Valentine Doodlefactory set.)

Up close detail of the shimmery eyes and moon!

Any way you look at it, these Doodlefactory images by Starving Aristamps can be used with so many different styles. From the minimalist Cat card, to the cutesy ghost....from a self-portrait of your own trick or treators all the way to a beast with a glint in his eye.   When you order them, use the code: savetenDM for 10% off your order!!  And I think that I will have to make a new Happy Fright Night Card..and frame it for our house!

Monday...PMS challenge time!

Today's challenge is to use diecuts and punches.  Since nesties were not included in the list, I decided to keep them off my card completely!  The flower is a Sizzix Hello Kitty die.  The large tag is always a Sizzis die.  And the circles and scallops were done by punches.

What can you do, sans nesties?  Link up your designs with Mr. Linky on the Paper Makeup Blog.  If you are using other online galleries, use the keyword: PMSMC28.

Notes for DD

I thought I'd make a little note book for DD's lunch.  I had her pick which Moody girl I used...not telling her it was for her.  She chose Moody for Art...b/c "the notebook could be for doodles."  She is such a smart girl! haha.  So tomorrow, she'll be a smart, HAPPY girl when she finds this in her lunch!

Still leaking Sherrod Studio examples

I just LOVE this card.  Too bad the blue DP was a scrap or else I'd make a stack of Christmas cards like this.  When I was young, my favorite color was green.  Or at least I said it was.  The other girls I knew said they liked green too. But I have a green birthstone so I was envied by them. haha.  Although, later I decided to loved red, green is still an awesome color. It pairs well with just about any color I guess.   Now, I used wasabi green...oooh lala!  Love that color and I'm running out of the paper!

Challenge:  Corrosive Challenges by Janet
Theme:  Kid's Birthday

On your Mark, Get Set, GO!

I used the Clown from Starving Artistamps' latest release:  Costume Party.  The fun cupcakes are from a set called Hearts and Treats.

I used a red sakura pen for some extra punch on the red cherries, nose, lips and shoes.  Icicle stickles are my favorite...used those for the glitz on the treats!
