Spring has sprung...

And how do do I know that?

Ken's guys night in...is in full swing. I popped down there to cover some freshly baked cinnamon rolls and to grab another bottle of pop off the balcony for the guys. As I opened the sliding door, I could hear the frogs' and their peeping! If the guys were more observant, they would have seen one very smilie Dawn! Yeah for Peepers!!

Handyman on the Prowl

I'm not sure what is up with Ken. Maybe b/c he is having a buncg of the guys over here tonight for a soiree. But...he has been fixing a bunch of stuff...chairs, the oven, bikes, cleaning up the garage...

Thanks Handyman Ken!

Blog Candy Alert

Post a tip about stamping here, and be entered to win some blog candy. Only do not do it. NOPE. I wanna be the winner!

PMS Monday Challenge

PMS's Monday Challenge was a sketch challenge.

Penelope is a very Asian fairy. Which is probably why I have tried to make her very "un Asian." I love trying to figure out how versitile I can get with a certain stamp. This stamp is very formal and elegant and distinguished. I tired to make it look fun, more carefree and relaxed. I think it turned out cute and nearly preppy! (It's the 80's talking.)

The other thing that I like to do on these creatures..acetate wings. I use a 2 way glue pen on the back of the acetate...then cover it in dazzling diamonds. It is an awesome effect with the black cardstock behind it. THe square rhinestones were turned to become diamonds. Yep...it got away from cute...and preppy is definity cool too!

Neighborly Treat

I am blessed to have some really great neighbors. And not just neighbors down the street. I'm talking about Next Door Neighbors. They are helpful and kind and down to earth. We swap recipes, sob stories (okay, mostly she listens to my sob stories) and deals. We take out each other's trash and bring in the mail when the other is out of town. Today I had to run to Michael's for some last minute Brownie supplies when I stumbled upon some really neat $1 clear stamp sets...of Monograms.

So, in honor of friendship and the love of stamping, I created this small token of friendship...just because. Because, who doens't love an unexpected treat!

Paying gig

I enjoy stamping. While some people have tried to convince me to to make it a money making thing, for now, it's just for fun. But I of course, will take paying gigs...which do occur from time to time! (Yes, Aunt Lin, I know...you're up next! hehe)

Sunday, a woman approached me about making thank you cards for her Senior Varsity DD's five Bball coaches. I do not have any sporty stamps. But that doesn't stop the creativity! I designed a Basketball jersey...complete with mascot, colors...and...

Flip to the back....

Preso Magic...It's Brittany's number...#23...GO DRAGONS!!!

**Funny thing is, I made the five Sunday night/Monday morning...gave them to the Mom. Only to realize that I hadn't photographed them! haha So I had to make one more. Needless to say, I am sure there will be plenty of Dragon events that could use a sporty thank you card in the years to come.

Yesterday I also created this CAS card. Simple and sweet....

M*'s Magical Fairy

My eight year old DD designed this card on Sunday. (I did help with the mats.) She even cleverly found a "fairy dust stamp" in my sets to sprinkle generously around Penelope! Talk about magic. I am glad she wants to stamp with me...once in a while.

Florida Funny...

Well, I thought I would blog about Florida. But Ken has all the pix and who knows where he hides them! So I thought I'd post a couple of funnies that happened before they are lost to forgetfulness.

Driving to our town house, we past some Sony Warehouse Outlets. On the side of one if was a large banner that read: LAPTOPS $289. So outloud I said to Ken, "Wow, Laptops for two eighty nine." (B/c I think it would be great to have one...though I'd be more sedimentary. Now at least I have to run from the art room up to the computer room every so often!)

So C* over hears me and gets excited. "Laptops for only two dollars and eight nine cents?" he exclaims. "That's a deal!"

Ken replies, "Yes, Laptops for everyone in the family!"

Then...we get to the clubhouse and we were waiting for Ken to get the keys and such. Outside there was a little play structure and bball hoops next to the pool. And sand...where the side walk is. White, fine sand. E* standing in jeans and a tshirt, shifts his hands in the sand and asks, "Mom, is this snow?" "No," I reply. "We are in Florida E. There is no snow here. It's hot and sunny."

We've had a delightful spring. Just hope we don't get any April snow storms!!

Spring Fairy Day, maybe

Someone on the PMS forum of PCP announced earlier this week that March 22nd was Spring Fairy Day. Tonight, I made 3 fairy nice cards for the occasion...using some of my favorite stamp company's stamps.

First...Paper Makeup Stamps' Sprout Fairy. Perfect for Spring and Earth Day!

The sentiment reads:

Just sitting quietly,

doing nothing,

Spring comes,

and the grass grows by itself.

Zenrin poem

Then, I got out my Starving Artistamps and DF Mimo was turned into a reluctant fairy by adding the wings of the dragon...stickles dust the wings while Crystal Effects bug out his eyes!

Lastly, a Hello Fairy...out of a Helly Kitty sizzix die. I used the polka dot ribbon to transform her into a fairy.

Of course, I googled to confirm this fairy date...and had no luck finding a site that stated it was Spring Fairy Day. Ah well...it's just silly and fun. Cards to cheer people up.
