Whimsy

Whimsy Stamps is having another DT call. I'd love their stamps b/c the animals are well drawn...cute but not stylized...and not super realistic. My style is whimsical...wish I had named my blog that! haha.

I made this card yesterday...

But I didn't like it enough to submit it. Good idea...just a little busy. So today I created this card:

I like it...but then I looked at the first card and started liking it more! haha. So, I'm indecisive and whimsical!

24 Invites

This week, I made 24 invites for the YW New Beginnings Program at church. Their theme this time is nautical, so these boat cards were a perfect fit. I added gold for the new value being introduced this year: VIRTUE.

A little blurry..but you get the idea.
I made this card on Saturday. The sun is not cooperating with me for picture taking today!

The covered dish turns on the brad to reveal a grateful message.

This is my challenge card for LSC today...to design your own background paper. I happened to check on the challenge at 3am when I got up to get cough medicine for E who was coughing a lot. So I thought up the idea to do a dark background paper based on Coraline. For M*. So I used white craft ink to stamp the vines and flowers. Then I used Q-tips to "color" them in with pastel chalks.

Oooooh...spooky....

but GREAT!

WOW!

I was surprised that it was in 3D. After a week at Disney, I thought that it would be a let down. Boy... was it fantastically entertaining and captivating! (This was my first 3D movie in a theater, I think.) I'm so glad that M* had pink eye and not "really" sick. It was a fun, secretive time together. Hopefully it will stay that way too! hehe Being that it was a story about a mother & daughter, it was great to see it with my daughter!

At one point, the "other dad" sings a song...and I knew that had to be my old favorite band, "They Might Be Giants." So we stayed through the credits to see if I was right. Sure enough...that song was credited to TMBG. Yeah!

I don't go to very many movies. But this one is one to be sure to catch in the theater. I remember seeing the Nightmare Before Christmas so many years ago and being thrilled by it. Tim Burton has done it again.

Several trailers were in 3D too. It must be the wave of the future for movies!

Ways to Use...frugal finds

Today's challenge was to use a frugal find on a card. Striking similar to the "green" challenge I hosted not too long ago...requiring you to recycle on the card.

A while back, I was in a white elephant swap and received, as part of the gag portion, a hostess set from probably the 50s...napkins, coasters, match boxes and paper ashtrays...haha. All in this funky roadrunner motif!

Of course, we had fun with the napkins and the matches are used. I kept one of the coasters with the intention to make it into a card for the gifter, Connie. Today was the day I did it! (You can be sure she'll be getting this card too! hehe)

A surprise for mom

Yesterday, E started making hearts cut out of paper. He would write on them: I love you. From E. Then they were placed on everyone's pillows and I hung up a few in the art room.

This morning, I opened the silverware drawer to pull out a spoon to serve E up some cough medicine...and this is what I saw!

Yesterday I saw M straightening the drawer...and E was putting the silverware into the holder on the counter. But I did not see the perfectly wonderful job they did! Now I *know* that they can keep the drawer this straight when emptying the dishwasher!

Thank you E and M for being sweet and kind and loving! xoxo
