Quick challenge...GO GREEN!
Tomorrow, I am the challenge hostess. So I whipped up a quick card to use as an example of GOING GREEN!
As in REUSE and RECYCLE...on your card.

The twill that I used on this card came wrapped around a set of new kitchen towels that I bought a month or so ago. The hardware was harvested from old cards.

Yoga Funny...
The Physical Education Teacher wasn't overly pleased with the way the yoga class has been going. E* is five and really done with the whole thing. It's at a bad time of the day and I really didn't want to drag him to it. So M* took her mat to school on Monday like the rest of the kids...and had to face going to yoga alone.
When I went to pick her up, I apologized for missing the class, explaining that E* was really sort of "done" with it. And She agreed that it wasn't turning out as well as she had hoped. (I think the next session should be by invite only. Get rid of those water fountain boys.)
Last night, E* was taking a bath when he called out, "I'm doing yoga in the tub!!" Sure enough, that little rascal was doing the "shark pose" as it is called in our elementary yoga class.

I emailed the teacher this funny...and it really brightened her outlook on the success of the class. She even stopped in to mention it to me again during Brownies today. I think that E and I will attend our final yoga session on Monday! Who knows what else we will learn. (BTW, he did the shark pose again in the tub tonight. What a yogi!)

Spilled Milk
If you shouldn't cry over split milk, can you cry over spilled M&Ms?

I went to Meijer (yeah) for a shopping trip. I ended up buying some ingredients for cookies...including almond extract on the occasion I need to make some frosting!
It's raining here...my cart was filled to the brim...I walked out to my car. As usual, a bag fell out of my cart. Only this time it was the M&Ms. The packaging split...and there went the M&Ms.
So sad for us...no M&M cookies or those little pretzels with a hershey kiss and M&M.

Chit Chatting in the Hallway
Tonight, Con's Cubscout den went to a local nursing home. There the boys sang a few carols (accompanied by moi on the baby grand piano...wow was it loud) and then helped the elderly play bingo.
M* said I didn't practice enough (thanks for being honest) but I was prepared to play 3 songs from my Christmas song book. And one of the other leaders asked me to play from a newspaper songbook. But (here the come excuses) the music holder was really high and the newspaper print was small and hard to read. After the first song, I found the other songs in my own book and it went more smoothly. Of course, perhaps if the boys had been given some practice time...then it would have been louder too.
My youngest and squirreliest needed to be removed from the dining room while the residents played bingo. He is noisy and they are hard of hearing. Not that he was the loudest. But not a Scout, he could sit it out.
After a while, in the foyer/hallway, he settled down and an elderly gentleman came through to ask the receptionist a question. So turning around, I greeted him and he stopped to chat with us for a while. At first he was interested in E* and his name...which he always gives his full name if you ask him his identity. So we talked about names for a while. Then we talked about scouting. And I introducted him to our new friend. His name is Charles and he had the Boy Scout motto, law and promise memorized! He told us about his family. (He had a "yours, mine and ours" set up.) And about one son who had 4 years left of service before he could retire and a daughter who lived in CA and could work from home on her computer.
When the scouts started leaving, E and I wheeled him to the dining room so he could say hello to anyone he knew. Then we wheeled him to the elevator. C shook his hand and E and M gave him hugs.
I think we need to "adopt" him...or at least send him cards to brighten his day. I can't imagine being put into a home. How say, lonely, dreary. The poor man just wanted to make a phone call...but not at the nurses' station on his floor where things are so congested and busy. I'm sure it would be difficult for him to hear on a phone with so much commotion. So as soon as I get the sewing projects finished, we'll be making and sending a card to our new friend, Mr. Charles!

Unplanned day...
Today, I was really going to sew a robe for C* for Christmas. I cut the fabric out last night after he went to bed. But instead, I cleaned up the kitchen, cleared up the piles of stuff on the counter, cleaned out the fridge and mopped...twice. It was neglected, admittedly.
So, still in my cleaning mode, I was putting the ornament boxes back in their place in the basement. Saw that the game closet needed some attention...stooped to pick up a knocked over puzzle box...and found...
WATER! Ugh.
So with E*'s help, we cleared out the closet and the storage closet where some pipes are at. Thankfully Ken was working nearby today and came home quickly. He got out a plumber's wrench and presto magic...keeping my fingers crossed...the leak is fixed. He's going to build a box around the piping now too. Luckily only one cardboard puzzle, one box (the toys can be saved) and one other game were marred in the mini flood.
Even though I had other plans, I'm glad that my day turned into a cleaning day...and our basement was detected. Glad Ken was so handy and that the leak (looks to be) at a joint!

Ken's Christmas Gift
I had ordered Ken's Christmas gift online last week. On Friday, C* and I were folding laundry upstairs while Ken and the other 2 kids went to pick out a tree. The doorbell rang and C* answered the door. He brought up the box. As soon as I held it, I knew it was empty.
So I opened the package (which looked untampered with.) And sure enough...there was some squished brown wrapping paper and the invoice. NO GIFT. (Can't post what it was since Ken might decide to take a look at my blog.)
Luckily for me, the invoice had a phone number on it that I could call. Which I did and they are "opening an investigation." A new one will be shipped out shortly...and quicly (I hope).
Ken's Christmas gift has certainly given me a run around. First I was trying to find a "deal" on this...then I bought one, found one online at a better price...and now have to return the B&M item...and wait for the replacement from the internet order! Maybe he needs coal like C* inquired!
