Fab Find on a Cold day!

I received this fabulously loaded package today from a friend in sunny Texas.

Today, I found a hefty box on my front step...loaded with goodies galore! Amongst all the certainly celery rhinestones, rickrack, glitter, primas, Rich Regals buttons, ribbons, brads, beads and DP...was a RED Sizzix machine. You can only imagine my absolute suprize and delight! Thank you so much Tracyltripp!! Wow, what a way to cheer up a friend on a cold MI day. All of the items were packaged with stamped toppers in a buggie themed state of bliss! Complete with a set of clear lady bugs and die cut lady bugs! My DD is begging to go out and buy some dies so we can cut stuff out! haha. She is going to enjoy this as much as me. So if anyone knows of sizzix die deals, let me know please!

Elegant version

Here's my elegant version of today's challenge to use background stamps. This one includes the past trend of double stamping your backgrounds on top of each other. Very Chic a while back on Splitcoaststampers.

Background Challenge

Today's challenge was to use background stamps which were all the rage a couple of years ago. I dug out some BOLD ones. The layout/arrangment took a bit...with interruptions. But after picking up DS from preschool, I called my friend who was also doing a "mental health project" and I was able to complete it.

Another card

Admittedly, I love this card that I made tonight. It is for the STIC09 challenge.

Remarks from DS

C* wanted me to write the following on my blog.

He is really good at Lego Starwars: The Complete Saga for the wii. Did you know that General Greivious (sp?) is a droid. And that is strange b/c he has 4 lightsabers and a gun. (He has six arms.) He loves legos and videos games and Starwars....so it's a great game for him!! (C: "Exclaimation point...Hello!?!!") I have also been told that I will be playing this game with him after school tomorrow. There are a lot of guys in it and it has Indiana Jones. You can make two different guys with the pieces of the people that you already have. They are called strangers. Stragers can be given new names. It's "awesome." (I'm sure when he turns around he'll be wanting an exclaimation point there too.) It is so fun and everyone should play it. It's rated "E" for Everyone so everyone can play it!

General Grievious and Darth Mawl are pictured above. They are very hard to beat but it can be done. Luke has a gun when you first get him but he doesn't have the Force yet. He's not a jedi. But he's still awesome. (I sure hope M* lets B* read this. Maybe B* needs to come over here soon to play with C*. I'm sure the boys would have more fun than me!) Greedo can throw bombs! He is the only character who can do that and he can kill anything.

I'm sure he'd go on and on...but it's late. So I'm going to try to get him to sleep....

May the Force be with you...Always!

A new AROUND THE WORLD champion!

Last night, I was talking to my DS about school. I try to ask the kids every day about school. What happened, how did you feel, what was fun, what wasn't fun, etc. His exciting news was that today....

C*B* is the AROUND THE WORLD CHAMPION in his class. He went all the way around and no one could beat him with the math facts that they were working on. He could calculate them faster! He was thrilled and I could tell it! (Of course, later, as I was tucking him into bed, I reminded him to not brag or make anyone feel bad.) I remember how tense those Around the World "games" were and how nervous they make you feel.

Way to go, C*!!

PS....I showed him this entry. C said he even beat his "worst enemies." I didn't know he had those! See what happens when you talk to your kids.

New card and new camera

I think I really do need to read the camera manual or just practice taking pix of cards with the camera. Here is my card for today's sketch challenge.

I think it looks better in real life...but I do need more stamping practice too. I'm just so out of inky shape! haha. I wanted a valentine...but one that wasn't so frilly and girly. I think the colors turned out quite well. Also, I was working on the whole Black EP/embossing thing. Black craft ink with clear embossing powder seems to work better than my old black EP! Now...to get more practice in...stamping and camera-ing.

Edited: That card just bothered me...make a little center for the scallop and added a brad. And then I even straightened the sentiment AFTER I took this pix. New card:

Anything

"If Anything is Worth Doing, It is Worth Doing It Well."

I have often heard my dad and grandmother say this phrase. I say it to my kids and husband regularly too, in various forms. While they are still working on it, I suppose most of us are still working on it.

So let's have some fun with it. Fill in the rest of this phase, with an alternate ending. And I'll see about sending one of you some blog candy! You can be silly or smart. I can't wait til hear what you come up with!

Family History Idea...

Today, I heard an interesting way to start you family history. Someone used this organizational idea and it worked marvelously!

Go to the office store and buy a pack of those tabbed inserts for a 3 ringed binder. I guess they sell them numbered from 01-100. Stick them in a 3-ringed binder with a single sheet of paper in each section. In the example, the first year was something like 1935...or whenever this man was born. The first tab was 35...then 36, 37, 38, 39 and so forth. Everytime he remembered something that happened in a particular year, he would jot it down in the correct section. As you fill up a page, just add another piece of paper to that section. You can paper clip pictures or letters inside each section too.

The 3-ringed binders just grew and grew. Within 2 years, this man had something like 10 binders. Amazing.

It is also easily adapted to the computer. Just use a new folder for each year of your life. Scan in pictures or documents to the appropriate folder.

I just might start this for myself!

From the heart

My mom shared this with me and I decided that I wanted to post it on my blog.

Get the kleenex ready! You are going to love it!

And thank you to azkimbo for leaving a comment. I decided to suck it up, square off the other half of block squares. And sure enough, I can make a second quilt top for a table. And maybe, if I frame it just right (and long enought), maybe I can make one of the tops into a lap quilt. Just maybe. Thanks for your encouragement.
