Christmas is coming...

I remember that Cara, my sister, had to learn this little poem when she was in Mrs. Kappur's 2nd or 3rd grade class. I don't remember which b/c it was a 2nd/3rd split class.

Christmas is coming
the goose is getting fat;
Please put a penny in the old man's hat!

If you have no penny,
then a ha'penny will do.
If you have no ha'penny then
God Bless You!

I decided to make cinnamon rolls for the elementary and preschool teachers yesterday since I never formulated a gift idea for the individual teachers. This way, the entire faculty and staff could benefit!

After spending the entire afternoon and evening making and baking, today, we are left with probably 6 rolls out of the original 8 pans (128 rolls). I gave 1/2 a pan to the neighbors, drove one pan to my best girl friend's house, 3 pans to the elementary and 2 pans for the preschool. And the rest...well..we ate them for breakfast!

I got up extra early, took off the plastic wrap covers from the rolls, added icing, and zipped out. We had some gorgeous fog today. Low lying fog that hung in the air as if I was on some Hogwart's lands!

Now, we are having a bright sunny morning. I tell you, living in MI has been down right divine since last spring. We had super great summer weather...hot into the fall. The cold snap came at the end of November...but there have been many, many sunny and bright days. We got snow right away instead of 6 weeks of gloom, glum and rain!

So today, I enjoyed the fog and the sun...my dishes are done...Now to tackle a very floury floor!

Lucky gets a hat

"Best for last" is what I like to say. And E*'s pet was the last to receive an article of clothing! Here is a hat complete with a pompom for our fun Pug. Now of course, C and McK are dying for hats too! I need to find someone who has yarn laying around and wants to done it to our Webkinz couture/clothing line! Red and pink and a little white is going to get old!

Last night, I remembered that I had some red yarn hiding under my bed. Oh the things that hide under beds. But with it, I designed a scarf for C's Webkinz named Seeker. Here he is.

Of course, that leaves Evan who wants:

a hat

shoes

coat
bed...
and probably more for Lucky the Pug. I guess I'll start figuring out shoes while the dough rises for the cinnamon rolls that I am taking in to the preschool and elementary school!

Webkinz Couture

My blog has been low on pictures lately. So here are 2 of our most favorite family members these days...Kylie and Lucky. (Seeker went to bed with C* and was not able to be in this photo shoot.)

How we got involved with Webkinz. C* received a Webkinz leopard from the Kennedy's in honor of his 8th birthday. Within 24 hours, McK* had me drive her to the store to buy one for herself, with her own money! A week later, I knew that E* needed to use some of his saved up monies so that he could be in on the fun and games. Thus, we adopted Seeker the Leopard, Kylie the White Terrier and Lucky, the Pug.

Today, I made 10 leashes for these animals! TEN! Of course, under the guise that they were going to the Kennedy cousins for Christmas! haha. Little do my kids know that some of the ribbons they chose will be for their own animal.

I had been saying for weeks, "One webkinz is enough. I am not buying you a Webkinz for Christmas and Santa is not bringing you one either." Then I volunteered last week in McK*'s first grade class. Each and every student, when asked what they wanted for Christmas, asked for a Webkinz. Without fail. Ooh and the stories I heard. Some of them even had friends who owned "20" even "30" webkinz. (To which I replied, "they are pulling your leg!")

So, okay, okay...I spoil my kids...I decided that yes, my kids needed one more Webkinz. While most kids do not have 20...they do have probably 5 or 6. Two isn't that bad! (hehe.) So, on Friday, I managed to find McK the "rare" black cat that she wanted. On Saturday, I battled the mall and found that prices are higher than at Hallmark outside the mall. But I sucked up the extra buck or two and managed to find the Husky that C* was admiring and the Lion that E* talks about.

This evening, a google search for Webkinz clothes patterns came up with NOTHING...so...

Tonight, I got out my yarn and crochet hook and tried to fashion something for Kylie the White Terrier. It took a bit to remember the granny square pattern that I never made enough squares for a blanket. But I figured it out...and added a strap. Voila! A cape/coat/covering!

So, now if I can just remember how to add a new ball of yarn to my crochet work...I'll be good to go as I continue to design Webkinz Couture!

Tropical Sarah

A few months ago, I sent my SIL, Hillary, a gift set that I had made. Like previous ones posted...a clipboard, stenopad, pen, clippie, card. She works in the corporate office for the company that owns Bath and Body Works, Lerners, etc. One of her coworkers noticed the clipboard and wanted one for her own daughter. You know, I love commision jobs once in a while. It helps keep me stocked with supplies!! Here is the tropical and flamingo bedecked set that I mailed off today...despite the long lines at the post office!

Feel free to order from me any time!!

Day Off

Last night, around 8:30pm, the local school district canceled school for today. Pretty fun for the kids...glad I knew before waking up in the morning...but boy, my plans for sewing all afternoon were FOILED! haha.

I did make MANY webkinz leashes, under the guise of "these are for your friends and cousins." haha. Of course my kids' response was, "ooh that is the best ribbon and color. There isn't going to be enough for me!" Little do they know that there are a handful for my own webkinz owners.

Oh and...if anyone has links for some webkinz clothes patterns, please share them with me! I studied a few outfits online and I could probably replicate the general idea. My good friend's DS has a couple of items that I hope to study and sketch out a pattern for future webkinz couture! haha.

Other than that and laundry and a trip to the crowded post office...my day was pretty unproductive. The kids were sent down to the basement to be loud and boisterous and I need to make a quick and fabulous dinner feast! TTFN.
