Whew! But what a party.
I don't have much time or energy to write or post pix. But here is a tantalizing tidbit. We had 47 kids at the party....47. And there were at least 5 more that didn't make it b/c of one reason or another. You can bet that was 5 unhappy kiddies!
Just a few more hours...
The house is hushed in slumber now...not quite 7am. Pokepalooza 2 will start in a little over 3 hours! Everyone is very excited. I'm pleased to say that many moms have offered to help bring food. That was very kind of them. I would have declined the offer, but 50 kids are expected. The help will be greatly appreciated.

Luckily, some of the signs from last year are still applicable to today's events. Here is one that is so fun:
POKEMON PITSTOP
Keep having fun by staying dry...bathrooms.
Rules:
* You should know these by now. If not, ask your mom.
That just cracks me up every time I read it. I have made signs that are posted near each activity. They have the name of the activity, a one sentance blurb and then the rules.

The crafts this year....
Design your own pokemon card...or a poke-fake as a neighbor boy calls them.
Design a luggage tag for your backpack using a pokemon card.
Body art: Using red, black and black nail polish to paint poke balls on your nails. (We tried this out on M* and neighbor B*...adorably fun! and the boys thumbnails were painted.)
So basically, even if you aren't into pokemon, there are plenty of things for you to do. Just ignore the funny names, pick up a spray bottle and GET WET!!

Two nice sets made for two nice people...
Okay...it's late...Ken...(happy Mom?) said I'm becoming a nightowl. Here are 2 composition notebooks with matching card and pen. This weekend, I made these for 2 nice people in my life. Of course, they are stampers. And both of their names are Tracy...isn't that a hoot! haha.
I have one more set that I need to make for nice Holly. But that might have to wait until after Pokepalooza 2!

Nice or Not Nice? You tell me!
It has come to my attention that there were unhappy kids after church on Sunday. While the person who brought this to my attention would not tell me who these upset children are, I am very sorry for any hurt feelings or confusion. After church, I walked into the hall and passed out some of the fliers for the Pokepalooza 2 to adults in the hallway. Most of you attended last year and it was a huge success.
I invited friends who like pokemon, some kids who came last year and a few move-ins. This is not a church sponsored event and we have many neighbors come too. I have seen many invitations given at church for various reasons. We have had many, many parties at our house. They are not birthday parties. They are parties for our friends. Our parties include all the siblings in the family...always have.
Just a heads up, there will be many, many kids at this event. I expect moms to stay...it is not a "drop off your kid and leave kind of party." If it rains, it will be postponed since it is a Water Pokepalooza...as in water games and such. Not rain water. Lunch will be served. Remember to wear your bathing suits and bring towels and your pokemon stuff. Though pokemon cards/games are optional. This party will be fun for boys and girls of all ages since there are games, activities, trading, make up, crafts and food! If you feel slighted in any way, do not feel obligated to come to the party. If you know of someone who is a pokemon fan, let me know. Please RSVP to me ASAP so that I have enough food for our hungry trainers and pokemon collectors! Let's say good bye to summer with one last splash!
Happily,
Dawn

I'm relinquishing my Nice Matters Award...
Yes, admittedly, it has only been a short time. But like so many political candidates I am going to have to step down. I simply do not feel NICE today. Not nice at all.
So, last June, a few days after school let you, we had a big party. I don't throw silly birthday parties for my kids where other families spend gobs of money on gifts. Actually, their only bday party was last year...for #1 and #2. No..I'm "NICE" and I have nice parties, gatherings, get-togethers where I supply the fun, food and entertainment. We've had Dr. Suess parties, Christmas parties, and now...POKEPALOOZA! It was super fun last year.
Just a party for friends to come play games, win prizes, trade cards, talk shop and eat. There was a trainer sign in...promising to abide by the rules of fairness and niceness. One game was basically a bean bag toss...but the bean bags were made out of pokemon fabric and the buckets had pix of some of the "not so nice" pokemon. A ring toss...to capture a pokemon. Trainers could practice their jumps and leaps in the bounce house. A prize pavillion feataured 2 pinatas filled with treasures. A dig pit (aka the sand box) filled with pennies and glass pebbles that a child would love. A design center for the pokemon crafts...you get the hint.
It was so successful that I promised a POKEPALOOZA 2 this year. Well, our Hawaii trip delayed it...then summer happened and that delayed it. Last year's participants hounded me ALL SUMMER. Low and behold, it is the last week of SUMMER! yikes! So it is scheduled for this Thursday. Drive by my house any where between 10-2 that day and it will look like a Palooza.
Okay...so where does my not being a nice person any more fit in? Well, first off, you wouldn't want to read the long story. It's too long with twists and turns and one unhappy Dawn. But I am not about to stop inviting people to my parties while I am at church. While I will smile through my teeth when a certain lot ____________ come to my house, I will not be having nice thoughts. I do not take kindly to people to think that b/c they are in charge of the _________, they can make up all the rules and that their ____________can have top priority. I do not like being called up on the phone, told that I can't do something b/c someone "got their feelings hurt." And when I ask who it was, am denied the answer. (When basically everyone I knew who liked pokemon was invited to the party.) And then when I do some thinking and make 2 phone calls, find out that it was someone who was ALREADY INVITED. The entire family was invited, but for what ever reason, they thought only one of the kids could come. ALL of our parties invite the ENTIRE FAMILY!
Okay, I'm spitting bullets just typing this. And yes, I'm pointing fingers. It's a KIDS party for crying out loud. Not everyone gets invited to all parties. And if you are so worried about it...why don't you invite my kids to one of YOUR parties!
PS...I would like to categorize this under "Not so amuzing thoughts."
Come back for a "nice" entry tomorrow.
