An experiment in Chemistry
This morning, M* and E* were washing coins in the bathroom sink. Not that I minded some of the toothpaste crud getting washed off with all the water that they were using...but I figured we could really get the pennies shiny! So I googled a recipe:
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 tsp. salt
Mix well...and soak away!

As I was trying to get these pictures posted, DD came up to me heart broken. Her silver coins which were not cleaned in the above solution, rather just wet for a while, are now extremely tarnished...and some had fallen in the garbage disposal...so I had to dig around in there...ugh.
So I think what we will do is...gather up the silver coins, drive over to the bank and ask for shiny ones. haha.
EDITED: We ended up going to the bank with the coins (and a few extra from mom's wallet) and exchanged them for four dollar bills. The teller asked us what she had cleaned them with. I said, "Just water." And the teller SMELLED the coins!! haha. It was a good chance for my kids to learn how to stand in line at a bank, for M* to talk to a bank teller and well, with such dreary Sprink Break weather...it was nice to go on a field trip!

While the DH is away...
I will STAMP!
Some Tuesday nights are late nights for DH. So I took the opportunity to stamp one more card in my attempts to become a fabulous flower artist. (Said with a French accent.) Oooh, I spoke too soon. DH just walked in. I'll be quick.
This is a card I made using "Petal Prints" with the pastel emboss technique. Using dark cardstock, stamp your solid image using versamark. Then sprinkle white embossing powder over it. Heat set. Then, using the blender pens, apply pastels. Now I read somewhere that blender pens will seal up your pastels so I only used a corner of my pastel. After you have colored in your images, heat set again. (Or spray with fixative.)

It is really quite striking! But still...not the most realistic flower colors.

I ain't got flower power...
Over and over again, on Splitcoast, I read posts about people who love flower stamps, who have tons of flower sets, who want the latest flower set. I see gorgeous cards/projects with these said sets. But I ain't got flower flower!! Try as I might, it takes a lot of time/paper/patience for me to get something to look right. I think I'm good with the line drawings of flowers; sets like "Natural Beauty" and "Both Way Blossoms." "Best Blossoms" from last year's SAB is not too fun for me to use. I do not like adding the solid stamp to this year's "Delight in Life." And the solid, "this is supposed to look life-like" sets are not working for me at all. I used to have "Flower Factory" and nothing turned out well...so I traded it away. Recently through a trade, I aquired "Petal Prints." We all know what awesome stuff is out there....then why did it take me 1.5 sheets of paper and too much time to come up with this card...for today's Color Combo Challenge?

Yeah, I know, it does look nice...but you should see the ones that landed in my garbage can. And the centers of the flowers...well, they were stamped and cut out and glued on top. I want fast, I want fabulous and I want "fall in lowe with Dawn's Flowers!"
After talking about my flower dilemma with some stalkers and getting inspired by this card, I tried my own version.

Turned out okay...I didn't stress about it...but obviously...the colors are pretty vibrant.
I did this next card last week...using a blender pen to pick up color that was squished onto the top of the ink pad...for the center.

Not bad...but come on...help me out here...I want fantastic florals using solid stamps. I know Rock 'n Roll. I don't have any SU markers. I do have WWC. And I'm open for advice...so post away any suggestions, tips or thoughts. Thanks in advance!

Haha...don't you love that..."weiner"...haha...I do. Ooh...reminds me to post a card from Carolyn.
Carolyn sent me this card after VSN. Which of course, I really wanted when I saw it in her gallery!

She will get one from me and will be mailed in the AM.
Yeah! Billie will be getting the NUM Gently Falling stamp set. I know a lot more people RAKed Allison than posted. Some said they already had the set. Some must be too busy stamping to let me know! Thanks for making Allison's day!
